If we’re ever going to fix Washington, it has to start with term limits.
The idea isn’t a new one, but it’s an important one. In order to return to a form of government that’s by the people, those we send to Washington need to be of the people. The only way to fix the system is to “drain the swamp” of the career politicians who are part and parcel to the problem.
The Founders saw wisdom in the notion of a citizen legislature, and restoring their vision fundamentally changes the way government works. It provides the platform to enact the conservative solutions that our country desperately needs.
Career politicians beholden to special interests got us into this mess, and term limits are the key to real change in Washington. As my first act as a candidate for the Fifth Congressional District, I signed a pledge limiting myself to 12 years in the House of Representative.
Until we have true citizen legislators, we can’t fix Washington.
