Do you remember when Barack Obama said he had “a pen and a phone” and wasn’t afraid of using them to force his liberal agenda on the country? Well, if you ask me, the Obama Administration couldn’t have ended a moment too soon, because I’m not sure how much more ‘robbing Peter to pay Paul’ our economy could handle….
Take, for instance, the more than 3,000 federal regulations – or nearly 572,000 pages – that were added to the Federal Register under President Obama. If you need something to measure that against, the Bible is about 1,200 pages – meaning the Federal Register is 476 times the length of an average Bible!
I don’t know about you, but if the Lord can govern existence with less than it takes the federal government to regulate a supposedly “free” market, I think it’s time we take one large step back and reevaluate the system.
Regulations have very much so become an unchecked burden on our economy. In total, the Obama Era regulations cost the economy nearly $900 billion! As a businessman, I’ve personally experienced the way that taxes and regulations have strangled hard-working families and small business the past eight years.
But lucky for us, President Trump also has a pen and a phone…but more importantly, he has an eraser. And if the first fifty days of the Trump Administration has shown us anything, it’s that he’s intent of reversing the anti-business mentality of past administrations.
It’s such a breath of fresh air to have a President willing to take the side of prosperity, and I look forward to working with him. If elected to Congress, eliminating job-crushing regulations and getting Americans back to work will be among my top priorities. It’s time we returned to free enterprise, cut taxes, and got the federal government out of the way.
